Central WA Baja

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Ok no other players after a week? Not as much traffic in here these days I guess.

1st picture is of the car without any occupants but full of fuel, tools ect.

2nd pic is with me and a solid sized passenger in it, helmets, gear ect. About as close to leaving the line weight as it could be I suppose. I'd say the 60/40 goal was pretty darn close to achieved.

So how much more do you suppose The Queen is than a state of the art top running class 5 car with an ecotec is?

Go back and read the original question. 3860 is with my fat ass and another solid occupant.

Couldn’t tell you. James said his car was 3500 or so so the queen shouldn’t weigh that much more. My car was 2848 without much of the stuff I have added over the last few years, winch, spare tire etc. I thought that was heavy.

Well good guess as you were off by 26lbs

We weighed 3 top tier cars, My car is about 500lbs more give or take. Crazy though as they all held 10gal at least more fuel and all have bigger transmissions and are setup with 934 axles and CVS. Makes me realize how much extra stuff I do have in her

Never having been inside a real class 5 car I would guess that your passenger area has more room with the width that you added? That could account for some of the weight. I don’t recall what tubing you used either. My car is almost all .120 DOM. Having it to do over I would probably have gone with .095 Chromoly just to save weight. It adds up when you have that much cage. My car definitely have more tubing than your average caged Thing.

Baja5 was over by 26lbs so thats pretty damn close. But with the lack of moderation here its hard to have a clear cut winner without hard set rules.

Way to go Baja5! Booo to the piss poor moderation that’s been going on lately. Maybe we need to add another mod in the OR forum. Know of anyone?
