Thanks. Some of it I now may be able to use. I will enlarge sections to see closer views of what you have done.
Most of the problems are based on the HD floor that I got and used. The rear seat floor is not that level, and the radiuses are not all done correctly (again, the spherical radius join is not correct and is still causing mounting problems. If you look up the term you will not get the definition I am talking about). Since the rear seat will ends up at the end of the tunnel and a BW seat is on top of that part of the pan and behind it, I want the cage to be strong and do its job correctly, but the front seat is very close to the end of the basic pan.
I spent a fair amount of time working on a spherical radius in aircraft. It wasn't structural so to speak but the formation of it by vacuum forming the vinal covered 6000 series of AL sheet. they were trying to come up with another version of the 6000 series of AL sheet that would make the spherical radius on the deepest part of the draw stronger.
A long story but I came up with a way of getting rid of it and doing something safer for the Flight Attendants that got me transferred 2 days later. The engineer I was assigned to at the time was not very happy about it too.
Some of what you have done I think I can use or make variations of it useful but the seats in my black buggy are so close to the rear of the pan part of the seat compartment that some of the same complications I have fought with will probably come into play.
Its funny but I just removed the rear mockup of the cage this week.
They are showing The Baja Bug Movie here in my town (Hostoric Roslyn actually) this next weekend. I decided to team up with the theater owner and do some social media promo, and put together a cars and coffee, then a backroads cruise followed by a screening of the movie. We even have a few OG STF' dirtpile members making it over.
These days my pops is not driving much at all. I do most of that for him. I asked JT if he thought we should dig pops Baja out and see what it would take to make road worthy. Pops and I built that car in 1995- 1996. Same year my wife and I built JT LOL. The tire paperwork said 1996 so although they look new still we decided those had to go. Yesterday we had to make a trip over the mountains to the last remaining Bow Wow, now located in Monroe,WA as we had to put a brake master cylinder in it to make it stop. New tabs (plates said 2012) new battery and some polish on the yellowed paint and she is looking good running good. JT will give pops a ride next weeknd in it. If you are in the NW and want to see The Baja Bug Movie this is your chance.

It is not Mickey Moused.....It's Desert Engineered!
Decades of dreaming, years of preparing, months of planning, all lead up to this point in time. Then it all almost went up in flames 72 hrs before this moment. This is what we kept pushing for. This was the start of the 2024 NORRA Mexican 1000. I would finally race my home built car in Baja. I would leave the starting line with my best friend of over 30+ years. Supported by an amazing group of teammates that I have grown to love as my "race family" and an amazing outpouring of support from other racers, vendors, family, and friends.
The thoughts running through my head? Don't F this up and throw it away in the first 5 miles. Just cruise and be patient. Save the car, it's 1400 miles and 6 days ahead of you.....and relax and take it all in. Please enjoy the first 3-1/2 minutes of what the next 5 hrs looked like.
