That is the job of owning a dune buggy... constant attention!
Still looking good and worth updating. Have fun and keep us informed of the trials and tribulations involved.

Way back when you rebuilt that Suby, there was discussion about your shortening the oil pan for more clearance underneath. I felt then and still do that instead of just making the pan shorter, it should also be wider, like a road racing deep sump pan for an American V8. That way you could at least maintain stock oil pan volume, if not increase it. Just might make a situation like this less likely in the future.

Usually when this is done then the oil pickup tube is setup to rotate 180° to make use of the wider sump. Good for oil movement on corners or when accelerating or stopping plus when in inclined areas too.

When using the shortened oil pan, you don't reduce the stock oil capacity. You still run the required quantity of oil, and the dipstick marks are modified accordingly. I screwed up here, guys. I just didn't check my oil level for too long. Now, why it had consumed that much is probably another reason to crack that egg open and see what needs refreshing.

If you're not on Facebook, you might not have heard: Skidmark's new shop burned down and his baja bug, and other projects, were completely destroyed in the fire. So devastating.

My thoughts are with Skidmark and his family, friends and customers.

This was the last I saw my baja. The fire happened 2 months shy of 20 years of ownership. Thanks, Stoich, for selling her to me. It was one heck of a ride!
