Battery, what's in your car?

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Whatever battery is starting to get weak in the Dodge Cummins or the Jetta TDI. They are way oversized, it takes so little power to start a properly tuned 1600 that I get another 3 to 4 years out of them. The biggest advantage is they are heavy so I mount them right up front just behind the front axle to put some weight on the front axle for steering.

This is in my sand rail by the way.

Just replaced the ORIGINAL fomoco battery in my 2016 t250 Transit work van. It was dated 7 20 2016, worst part was it's under the driver's seat.

In my glass street Buggy, space was limited in the original battery box area when I converted it to IRS. I cut the battery box in half and slid it all the way forward to give the control arm room to move. Then I bought a battery for a ATV that is exactly half the size of a standard Beetle battery and fit in the downsized box. It seems to spin my type 4 engine over just fine, no problems with it all summer.

I expect it will not be adequate at -30* but I don't very often run this Buggy in the winter.
