Here's the place for info on converting to a Type V motor!

AMBROSIA, where did you get those dellorto manifolds from? They seem to be specially designed for the wasserboxer, not type 3.
They are t25 manifolds with the square ports.
I bought them from CSP in germany.

Thanks  .
They're too tall for what i need to do.
I "have" to put dellortos on a wasserboxer in a type 3 to fit under the lid. Looks like the dellorto - type 1 very short manifolds are the only way. Maybe they're thick enough to fit the square ports...

I'm surprised they are too tall
They are specifically designed to fit under the lid on a t25.

To fit in a Fasty you'll need some Type3 DRLA/IDF manifolds & open them out to match the WBX ports - the T25 ones are still to high as the Fastback has a lower engine lid profile.

I have this for sale - Genuine 200mm T4 flywheel, freshly refaced etc. £150. Open it out for needle bearing in the centre and it will take any standard or uprated T1 200mm clutch

I put my rad in the back. The only cooling problems i had were with cheap plastic header tanks splitting - now have an ally one and no morre problems. I use the early 1.9 cooling system. I use a remote oil cooler instead of the 2.1 WBX cooler.

Bolting it in is the easy part - it's the cooling system that will take the time - there's no standard or right way to do it - be creative!

Looking good 8)
I doubt you will need any additional scoop with the valance cutouts you have.
I look forward to seeing the finished project!

You knew it made sense
Sounds great.
How did you get on modifying the exhaust header?
Look forward to reading more.

i chopped the flages off bolted them to the heads the cut turned and welded to fit. it will do for now i think but i want to make a stainless setup at some point.

it is awesome. i tried it out today in the wet and was skidding all over. :D

oh and also i've been told to conect up the temp sender that is on the thermostat to keep an eye on it. does anybody know if the sender will work with a standard vdo gauge or do i need the vw one?

Any VDO will 'work' but not necessarily give the correct temp.
I bought a matching sender and gauge by racetech and it's proven very accurate.

One thing I would also advise is fitting a VR6 80 degree thermostat rather than the stock 90 degree one.

Overheating a wbx has a habit of blowing head gaskets.

Great stuff mate.
