I am taking all the good parts off the pan the 62 is on and putting them on a 74 pan that I have. The 62 is already on a IRS Ball Joint pan. On the rear I will be using the coil overs that came with the 62. Just putting it back together and painting as I go.

Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

Re: My New 1962 Bug
I got the rear suspension pretty much put together on Saturday. We removed the torsion bars and then installed the rear arms with the torsion bar eliminator kits. I still have to get some rotors for the rear.

Removed the old crusty pretzel shaped front beam so I can narrow the new one and install some adjusters.

The beam is brand new all I need is tie rods for it and the suspension will be like brand new.

I am installing the coil overs upside down the spring fits the factory lower bracket (pocket) like it was meant to.

Once the beam is done we can install the 3 inch lowering spindles and have a roller.

We slide the tranny and engine on and called it a day in less than 2 hours.

Re: My New 1962 Bug
I know you re-aligned the Beam using a piece of angle iron when welding it back together....However Jesse James slid two new pieces of steel tubing which fit perfectly inside his open Beam on each side, then adjusters. It's much stronger! But you know this already. Where did the other Beam you replaced bend/twist, or had it been in a accident?

Jesse James blah blah blah
I think from watching this video he just welded the adjusters in the front beam however on the torsion housing he used the tube in a tube technique.

Re: My New 1962 Bug
When the Show originally ran on TV it showed him using tubing in the beam. He also joked about it being a long time shortening a VW beam.......He wasn't sure if he could still do it! The foreign Youtube video left the step by step process out....I remember recording it on my DVR but later lost the program because the DVR had to be replaced.

I KNOW ROTARYVOLKY!!!!!! Sorry for yelling, I just got excited! Ill have to check thru my pictures for some of the car. Rotaryvolky was a member of the club I belong to in Kansas when he was stationed here. He got deployed while in Kansas during the build, if I remember correctly. At our first club car show that car won the Least-Likely-To-Win Best of Show award, (I named that award)

Re: My New 1962 Bug
David, your bug is comming along nicely and looking good. Just for giggles, when you get the front beam back in, put the two rear jack stands on the rear torsion housing and the two front stands on the front beam. If everything touches the stands then most likely you have a straight pan. Mine did but now it doesn't, one jump...

Fog that only works if the concrete is perfectly level.
I doubt it is. Because I poured it.

Re: My New 1962 Bug
You know what I am talking about Fog I see all them smiling faces..................I poured the concrete about 4 times under the carport, a section here and a section there. The street is way lower so it is on a incline. Sometimes you just gotta go with the flow, codes and all that b/s.
