Re: My custom brake rotors

So finally weighing in on the old vs. new. The cast-iron rotors with press-in studs weigh 15 lbs, 13.6 oz. My new rotors weigh 12 lbs, 14.9 oz. So the weight savings is almost 3 pounds per rotor. I'm happy
One thing I was going to install at the same time was dust shields with 2" vents for cooling, but they don't fit with these flat-faced rotors. Kind of a relief, really: that would mean I'd need to drill and tap the spindles, hole-saw the dust shields, weld tubing on them, clearance them properly around the shocks and tie-rods, fabricate a scoop that doesn't look lame, etc. etc. So just doing the straight swap.
