Hmmm interesting conversation. Elmore...you made a comment pertaining to not knowing the value of goods. Just a question. Do you know the value of your goods? Do some describing. Crawl around and inspect them. Do they have rust holes in the front or rear floor boards? Do they have cancer growinlg on the rocker panels or the curves above the rear fenders? Are they leaking? Do you have rust holes in the rear hood? have you checked the 4th gear counter gear for spalling by pulling off the plate on the tranny (which would mean the tranny is junk...about 70% have this). Sadly, I have found that few of the 411/412's that have been left sitting out in the deep south....are worth more than parts supply vehicles. I spent 6 years in Atlanta working on and aquiring type 4's. The conditions of cars in that region is generally poor. You seem to feel you have a gold mine. I doubt it....but tell us bit. Ray

You know what? I am better than name calling and all this jazz, if Elmore wants to bring this crap up again, let him, I am done with it.
I wish I had never posted that add on the Samba for an Engine lid, so he would have never have gotten my phone number.

I seriously did not intend to open up such a can of worms by asking about the cars. There's no reason to talk of lawyers and ruining people's lives over some old cars, which as neat as they are, are just big chunks of metal. Elmore, I think that if somebody still really wants the cars, they will still be willing to buy them. You must consider, though, that from what I can tell, there are only a handful of Type 4 enthusiasts in the whole country. There is also the matter of location, as transporting a bunch of non-operative cars halfway across the country is a daunting and potentially expensive task. Oh, and Deathbus, I hope you'll stick around, as I am still lacking much Type 4 knowledge! I hope this stuff hasn't turned you off of the forum

Nah Uber, you didnt rile up anything, I think I let my emotions get way to ahead of me. Your right, it isnt worth getting all worked up over. Actually I do hope he gets what he wants for the cars, and that they are saved.
I am not going anywhere, this forum is way to informative and plus you guys are half way decent!

To Elmore and "Guest"
Please take your comments to another post. I am trying to learn from Ray and Deathbus. I eagerly looked forward to gaining more information from the two of them and found my post cluttered with your bantering. No offense to ether of you, but take your cat fight somewhere else. Either that or I will contact the webmaster, or other austute individual and see if what action can be taken to bar you from this site. period. end of subject. Dennis
Any body else want to talk about 412s?

DB, don't be surprised if I take you up on the offer. I'm currently at Bragg until next week. Also, I'm in the midst of dropping the engine on the 412, first time

It is a little more involved than a T1. I've printed several posts, and working with two manuals (one a Clymer [spelling?] and the other one deals with T1 and T4). After I return and start back to work I may give you a shout. Thanks for the offer.

Hey, no problem, let me know. Srprisingly enough I have never had the engine out of the 412, just had it down to the shroad and heater boxes off. BUT MY VANS

..... I can put a Type 4 engine in a van with my eyes, closed. They are practically the same process, just have never delt with a torque converter. Anyway, let me know!
