Hmmm...I don't know where I got that impression? In other markets, the 2dr.'s certainly got the 1.8L. Anyway, surely the 2dr. 412's were sold originally in the U.S., otherwise, why would they have the same "big" U.S. bumpers as the other models in '74?

you must have some "leftovers" from 73 in your car, thats the only explanation that makes sense. Further into the code are manufacture dates.

What about the "official" one on the rear doorjamb for the driver's door? The plates up front don't have the VIN (if I remember correctly), just the "typ" and chassis #, though all should match...

Well, on a '73 you can tell the mfg. date by that RH side plate:

11-2-8679

11th week, 2nd day (Tues.) of 1973.

The '74's, I don't know the numbers mean? :?

That would put it around september/october of 1973. It very well could be a leftover. As I have noted a while back...I have seen some carryover in the first couple months of model year. Ray

Yeo...thats what I get for not reading that closely enough. So the two doors retained the 1.7 and D-jet. Cool! Had better response anyway. Thanks Deathbus and Tuna...I learn something every day. Also.....I just KNEW that they had a popout quarter window option. The welded bung under the headliner behind the back seat on bothe sides, could be used for either a popout window latch or a 3 point seatbelt....or both  Ray
