This is what happens when you try to make a classic into a Modern look. It looks miscumbobulated ( Or however you spell it.) It would probably go about 10 mph faster in the 1/4 without all that added junk on it.

A co-worker that attended U of Missouri Rolla a prestigious engineering college took a class in Aerodynamics which they actually design a body on a Go kart and wind tunnel it and in the end race each other. Kinda cool class. Anyway the bottomline is that any wing you use has to be in porportion to the weight and speed the car is going to be used at. He said, in order to get any good out of wings and such would have to have one the size of the Wing Outlaw Dirt Race Cars on a street car and live where you run the Autobahn everyday or at 100+ mph. Not practical. The best thing as he says to go fast and with downforce is to have body shape that is a wedge with flat panels on top and at least a flat surface or in the ground effects on F1 cars, a reverse wing shape to cause down force on the bottom of the vehicle. For a street car he said a highly sloped windshield and the smallest amount of frontal area possible is best along with a wedge shape and Zero wings as they are just wasted weight to hall around. The VW is screwed from the original shape. So the best thing for you to d0 is buy a kit car body and be done with it. Do not destroy a classic and be careful with driving at high speed in that rig or you may find yourself flying off the road.

This rig has spent a lot of time doing 120 mph when i lived in the UK .This rig out drags most oem street cars ie vets vipers and a lot of 911 turbos
this rig makes 230hp on low boost and over 400 hp on high boost .This rig has run 11.30 @126 on 135x45x18 dot rubber no slicks not bad for a rig .Dyno sheets are on www.emeraldperformance.com :D

It couldbe faster?

I am not dogging your cars performance. I am sure it is fast. To each his own and if you want to waste your money on things that are virtually worthless and really look bad that is your perogative. There is tasteful and symmetrical design on cars and and there is Gawdy Cartoon looks that the ricers do that is laughable. This car falls in the latter.

Years ago one of the car mags tested a TransAm ( all wing out) vs. a Formula Firebird no wings and ground effects. Same basic car otherwise. The Formula was faster on every 1/4 run by a few tenths. If you take off all that drag inducing body armor it may go into the 10's. And 120 in a bug for sustained runs is a deathwish. Unless you have access to a windtunnel I'd be real careful. It is kinda like the first guy to test a suit that is supposed to be Shark proof. If you just bolt on body panels because they look like they will work you are doing similar research.

Grow up and get a name.
Dont slate the car because you dont like it. The body work is immaculate, I dont say I like it, but give the guy the respect he deserves for building something of that caliber and so different from the rest.

That's a neat car. You've sure created a buzz here on the ole shoptalkforums that can be a boring place with all the normal cal-look cars and copycats. So the London look is radical like that, wow, must be a fun place to drive around when traffics moving, like at night time. What do the cops think of you? Do they see you coming and give you a hard time? I hear that all the time here in Toronto. It's actually good to be in a high visibility car for safety, it really helps to be seen when you're moving fast.

First of all I am Arnolds64. I do not know why it did not come up. Second of all I am grown up (48 but youthful) that is probably why I guess I can't except this car as tasteful. I am getting OLD! Shiot I have become my Dad, set in my ways! Not that!!!!

Come on, would you pick up a date in that car? I think even the rice crowd may laugh at it trying to be a pretender. If you like that look buy rice. Don't deface a German car like that. It is like a Transsexual. It looks like a women but no matter how much plastic surgery you do the male part will not go away. Rice it up as much as you want but it is still German underneath.
