I may want to do that for the summer. Right now the carbs are working perfectly. I may need to upgrade to bigger vents, to make better use of the big valves. The linkage is working better, but still have synching issues. Feels on/off, sensitive pedal I guess. Since I am upgrading to CB CFI, I will clean the carbs and test them for the engine. Then keep them for "just in case". One thing I know is that checking the float level, and making sure that everything operates smoothly was the major improvement.
Cool ideas from both Nate and Joe. Joe, how are the Jet Doctors working out?

Best way to completely clean my carbs?

I have been happy with the jet DR, but I really do not think they are necessary for street use. All my idle jet probs were due to a dirty tank. The nice thing about the jet DR is that it makes it easy to remove the jet if you dont have tweezer fingers. (for the Dells anyway). As far as the throttle action, with my engine (similar to yours) I thionk it is prone to be touchy just due to the torque. Also with the Dells the throttle response is excellent, I believe more so than webers, but that is here-say on my part.
I'll have to try the baking soda!

E as for the JD' now that I got every squared away they are great, I did have to go to larger air correction jets but it rocks!!
I found a major problem, that I have been looking for. When I put the Stainless steel muffler On I noticed one carb was burning very lean, by looking into the headers. I went nuts increasing the mixture etc. Well I forgot about it, which could have caused valve burn but what could I do!!! I noticed because when I went to the lower and closer manifolds the carbs were hitting the fanhousing and I could not get the carbs seated with the nuts. So out comes the hand grinder and off comes two bosses on each carb. 3 out of the 4 were blocked. One was not, I had a 1/8" air leak for years. When I would do a mixture adjust the other 3 worked out fine. This one the idle jet did nothing. Well JB weld to and a screw fixed that.
Ok big trick for Baking Soda!!!!! Did you ever see the ads for the magic plate that cleans Silver. Here is how it works. You take the plate put it in your sink and add baking soda and water. Then put your silverware in and in minutes all the tarnish is gone. The plate is like $30!!!! Do exactly the same thing with Aluminum foil. It works great. As for on a carb, hay maybe. But I would rinse fast on a carb because it may turn to paste and harden in ports.

Not the Idel jets
Gorrilla its the pic that has the top of the carbs of with the red circles drawn on it. You have a screw driver in one of the jets Im refering too. One of mine did not have the holes drilled in the sides.

Oh.. those are just starter jets.. They mean nothing to you unless you are using the cold start enrichment unit. I've never seen anyone do it, nor is there a need on these setups. Not to worry about those. Look at the link in my first post on the thread. The link explains every step of what I was doing.
