You might not have ran it long enough to cause any issues. Run a leak down, to check the cyl's, but doubt the Deutz cyl's would go out of round, @ 100mm their fairly thick.

As to the seats, don't know who installed them, saying if they received the correct interference fit ? Heat cycling 2 times even overheating may not have been an issue. For piece of mind though, down the road a head upgrade might not be a bad idea to be safe.

Tough call. Do you play it safe & strip / recheck or take a risk and carry on.

Probably suggest checking the valve lash carefully for any sign of stretch or seat movements. Maybe a leak down test to confirm the valve seal & cylinder blow by is also worth doing perhaps a couple of times over the next 100km.

Bottom end should be okay if the oil didn’t lose all integrity. Certainly worth an oil change & careful filter inspection.

How does it sound? Any clatter or compression leaks? It is probably fine since you were paying attention.

Wel got some testing done.
Valve lash is ok..
No signs of white smoke when starting.
Stays cool now when driving. (damn paper)
Did a compression test when hot, all around 200Psi.

So seems to be ok. Luckely.

Bought a cylinder head temp gauge for insurence.

Up to the rolling road then.

Thanks for the advice again.

Goodmorning,

How do you guys mount the ring under the spark plug for the cylinder head gauge. (CSP version).
It is a f... nightmare to place it.
It is rotating with the spark plug, instead of staying at its place and only the spark plug turning.
Thanks in advance.

I’ve seen pictures of people grinding a narrow channel to the plug recess so the washer sits flat & the grove should stop it turning. Maybe a bit late for that now?

When I used the cht rings (not specially the csp ones) with my 1600/2.0 I removed the standard ring under the sparkplug. This so all the plugs have the same "depth". This also helps (a bit) with mounting them, but also needed to make some clearance iirc. Dont know the thickness of the csp rings but better to double check it.

Good luck!

Thanks Bruce, yes that does not go.
Engine tin is in place (full engine in my car) only have the sparkplug hole in the tin to paly with, and that is very small.

Thanks

Yep was thinking about that. Ok you tried that.
Will give it go in the afternoon.
Think the ring on the spark plug is a bit thicker then the sensor ring.
Will have a look.

Thanks

Not to dissuade you from getting "standard" CHT data for reference/comparison, and perhaps safety shutdown//enrichment limits... but I found that I got the best/fastest response to load from the airflow under/around the exhaust ports (using a std GM non-contact PTC sensor) as my CLT for engine control.
...Literally ziptied (Stainless steel zipties) to pushrod tubes, with good well sealed underside tin and custom side tin due to non-stock exhaust.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Finaly installed my CB BB.
I use a transistor (magnetic pick up) Dis set up from a late type 4 on my type 4 engine.
Took me a while to get the matching 10gr on my crank pulley and on my BB dashboard. It sure is not the 70gr as of standard, more or less maybe 20 max.
Put the fuel back in it, and it run directly.
Step 2 have it fine tuned.

This is how it now stands, I am not a fan of shiny thing, so have to repaint some things but will do that during the winter.
Some test driving with the Black Box this weekend, see if it is ok like this..
Distributor is a modified transistor unit, removed the weights and the vacuum box, welded the plates together so it is locked.
