With Turbo and Super charging you can create massive horsepower with vw motors.

It’s best to pull the sensor if it’s not working instead of driving it when off… the sensor can get ruined if no power is to it.

Ok, so this is what happened. Took a friend for a July 4th turbo blast. But, earlier I checked my boost controller. The boost was only going to 8-9, but earlier I locked it down on minimum. Where before it was kinda just off minimum. So I pulled over and said screw it and turned it up a little. Took off from the curb, he said it went to 18 and I shifted and instantly got a miss. I probably drove 20 yards and then limped it home. Its hot, plus we’re actually having a cook out. And I’m busy for the next few days. But I guess I’ll start by pulling the spark plugs.

That's not good. 18psi, non intercooled on pump gas? I'm gonna guess you just cracked a cylinder, at best, torched a head at worst. Sorry to hear. Been down that road a few times myself. Cracked cylinder is an easy enough fix.

I was going to say...check your intake connectors. Those orange connectors only hold to about 13-15 lbs boost. I blew them a couple times then went to a 4 or 5 ply silicone reducer that would hold any pressure. They were a bitch to get on but they sure held well.
I think there was a thread on theSamba that had a link to the connectors. Stock size is 1 3/8ths to 1 5/8ths inch..

I found the link to the couplers...get a set of these....they are a bitch to get on but they won't break...

I'd be a little careful going over 10-12 lbs boost without W/I and/or an intercooler. I't pretty easy to damage pistons or cylinders especially if your ambient temps are any amount over 70* F.

Lucky break there! Hopefully that's all that you have wrong. Definitely explains a misfire.

Thanks everyone. I ordered the urethane red ones. I’ll see how they do. And keep the boost down. Also, the boost controller has a set screw that creates the detent for the knob. Well it vibrated out. I can turn it tight to zero and that appears to be 8lbs. Gotta get a metric set screw.

If you don’t mind me asking ,what jetting did you end up with or are you still working that out?

It’s a 40 drla and the vents are 34mm. I used empi’s baseline single 40 jetting as a baseline. Right now I have 165 main, 60 idle, 180 air, 50 pump jet. This is with cb turbo emulsion tube and no mod rings. It does have a low speed stumble that I’ve tried messing with the idle and pump jets. I usually end up going back. Hard driving it does show. My O2 is intermittent, but I’m on the rich side. All on a smal cam 1600. MSD provides the spark(I’ve never fouled any plugs) and timing as limited with bent stops in the distributor.

I finally replaced my intake boots and may have another problem. Number 3 is dead. I changed the plug and still not firing. I’ll have to take a compression test.
