Just went on the site the rods have to be these units as there are no i beam race rods on the site. Would like to see pile comment here as he tried some cb rods and it didn't work as expected, think it had something to do with deck height when the rods were setup.

Fastback did you have the T1 or T4 bolts in you 2.4ltr waterboxer and are these bolts a drop in without resizing the big end of the rod.

Found this.

Yes, H beam, 5.5" long, VW journal x 5/16 bolts/ 98mm bore x 82 stroke, they have about 3 race hours on them so far. 8)

That's why I keep saying the aftermarket rods are ~cheaper, assuming you are having the stock rods "done" by a third party charging normal rates + the ARP bolt set. (and I still wouldn't trust them past 100K miles)

I just had them use the T4/WBX bushing/specs.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Pile if rocky can't find good usable aftermarket candidates i will have to send rocky my stock rods with a set of t1 stock rod bolts. I have two t1 engines here that i can use the rod bolts for this project.

Passatman, You can email me for prices. I machine the rod bushing area in the aftermarket rods install the bushings and hone them to fit the 24mm pins. I have read here that some are just honing the rod bushing in the T-1 rods to fit the 24mm pins. I'm not sure if that is something I would do. How thin are the bushings? IMO you should have a least .025 wall on the bushings . I have seen some rods that where done to .015 and the bushings pounded out. If you ask most the rod builders .025 is as thin of a wall they would use.

Have a question here, when building the waterboxer engine what length extension handle should be used when torquing the block halves together.

The length of the extension will have no effect on torque value as it is on axis.
That only matters if using a crowsfoot or cheater range extender, provides extra leverage.

Use whatever socket extensions are needed to reach.

I took a look at my waterboxer crank today, took out the starrett mics and mic the crank. The connecting rod journals are standard but i was wondering if i had a 69mm crank in a 2.1 case. Reason for me saying this is because the bentley manual says that the 1.9ltr number 1 bearing journal is 60mm and that's exactly what i got, can't believe it but i am going to try again to measure this journal tomorrow after work.

Ruben did you check your big end to see if it was out after changing the bolts.
