Polishing the crank, with a rag and a bit of metal polish.
Left ones are already done.

The parts are out for machining, but I don t think I will have this engine ready before season start,
so decided to put my old engine together, with some standard CU heads.
Had some extra stuff laying around like H beams.
Crank rotates smooth in the case, camshaft also..

A quick question, I don t like the straight cut cam gears, what i like that it is adjustable, so is there somewhere a helical cam gear which is adjustable for a type 4?
Can t seem to find one.
Thanks in advance

You can make a stock gear set adjustable if you have the cam bolt hardware, and have a friend with a mill and especially a rotary table..

Got my crank balanced, but answer was not what I wanted to hear.
They had to remove 50 grams on a place where it is not possible…… aaaaaahhhhh
You guys had any trouble with welded (counterweighted) cranks...
I did not buy it directly from supplier so I am not here to shame anybody.
It was a used one. (little use)

Ok lapping the valves… for the old 2.0 engine will be running this season..
If you close I also lapped the cilinders on this one…
Finaly can pick up my case and heads for the 2.4 engine... but don t think it will be ready this season..

Am curieus what this will bring. A little modifications to my old 2.0 engine.
Using the heads for the 2.4 engine build.
Throw in some parts I had lying around.
Lighter H beam Rods, standard CU heads 39 x 33mm valves, new valve guides, a few new valve seats, lapped the valves and valve seats,
fly cut the head 1 mm, deck height on old engine was to big... so set deck height now at 1.25mm this will bump compression to 1 : 9.7 now.
Fingers crossed it will fire up.
Has oil pressure.
and alive and no strange sounds.. ;D

Ok went to EBI 8 almost 800km trip, old engine with standard CU heads (39x33 valves) pulls strong..... only dropping power above 5000 rpm, old heads kept pulling till 6500.
Oil temp on 4 hour drive on highway on very hot day for europe (30dgr) not been above 90 C.
We were driving with others so not above 110 Km/h.

Hi Eddie!
I was thinking about shooting you a PM about the temperatures youre normally running but you already answered it by your post.
Do you think the Cali-cooling is going to be sufficient for the 2.4?
Cheers,Arnoud

Arnoud,
I hope it will be enough. but now I only have a type 4 cooler in the doghouse and a venture ring on the suction side of air intake.
For some reason never had any issues with oil temperature.
But I would like to put the vanes at cooling on top of cilinder and de thermostat flaps that are original in a type 1 engine to get the air to the heads better.
oooh and you can ask me anything, no problem.
