I would think a regular starter would be just fine. These aren't 13:1 compression engines, so it shouldn't need extra cranking power. You might see if the engine turns over extra hard by hand or something too. Just to be sure nothing weird happened there.

Thanks guys. I think I will leave the rebuilding to the experts and turn in the core. Will purchase a new/rebuilt one when the time comes... It's on the back burner for now.

Finished glassing the lid. I was worried the mold wouldn't release, but the Vaseline works well as a release agent. Trimmed, sanded and ready to cut the holes for the fill lid and feed/return lines. Then I can glass the lid in place... Slowly but surely making progress.

It being a new engine, I imagine its probably due to the engine not being fully broken in. Its a 1776 with an 8.5:1 CR. Do you guys recommend a stock replacement, or should I purchase a performance starter? If so, do you guys have a recommendation for my 68 Ghia?
I use a Chinese new type 1 regular starter for 'everything'. The new ones have brushless drive I think. They run faster and are a little lighter. They work extremely well. I never used my expensive (and ultimately broken) high torque IMI starter again

Nice glasfiber work BTW!

Which one is the in and out? And how will the water get out of the tank ? Just from the pressure of the pump ? Or is there a long suction hose going near the bottom of your tank ?

One is out, which has a pickup tube down to the bottom. The other is a return which dumps to the top of the tank. I have an external pump for the setup.

Thanks V8Nate! I plan on running the coolant lines up and behind the fan shroud (actually in front) out of sight. Need to get working on the new manifolds and intercooler mount plate. Getting there.
