Unfortunately, I chose the VW pump thinking it would provide ample flow... It does not. A pump for a supercharged Mustang, yep, should have gone that route. Well, at least my concept has been proven. Now to purchase a better pump. Thanks Panel!

Wow, February 9th?!?! That was a long time ago. Ok, two weddings, another grand child on the way, a new job, and recovering from C19 later, here I am with an update. Haven't gotten much further, but very close. Funny how it took a C19 infection, to slow my life enough so I could work on the Ghia.
Have the cover back in place hiding the tank and pump. An access door for the tank refill cap...

Newly welded stainless intakes fitting perfectly, just waiting on boots and T clamps...

All that's left is to find a place for the external oil cooler... and research for a radiator. After all this, won't be removing the intercooler anytime soon.

Took a fair bit of wrestling with it, but have everything installed. Still have the plumbing to do, but that's easy. Not too hideous looking I guess. Put her up on jack stands to tackle the oil cooler... Unfortunately have to rethink my setup as it wont fit in the location I was hoping for. The truss bar is in the way. Plan on relocating it to just behind the driver side rear tire under the apron. Should have plenty of air flow while cruising. Just need to fabricate some mounts. On a side note, Im going to purchase a Vulcan ProTIG 205. Time to learn how to tig and do my own work. Happy Fathers Day to me.

TIG is fun, buy tickets form the weld places they are cheap and will get you going. Not that I am goo by any stretch.

Well, I chose to put the tig welder on the back burner for now. Don't have anything I need welded. All the brackets I just made was out of aluminum and didn't require any welding. The oil cooler is mounted, the thermostat and filter are mounted and everything is plumbed (oil). Now just have wiring (relay on order, the fan will be temperature controlled via the ECU) and the intercooler plumbing.

Here is a picture of the plumbing. More or less hidden behind the rear apron. Not much to see really. Turned the engine over a few times, no leaks so far...

ITS ALIVE!!! Finally finished up that last bit of oil plumbing. I like the results, and as a plus, no leaks.

Been busy with work, they got me on the graveyard shift.

Anyway, enough excuses. I've recently replaced my FPR with one from TheDubShop. Wanted to adjust idle RPM, so trying to dial in the air fuel. Starts right up with no throttle manipulation when it's warm. The new intercooler setup is working great! Seeing IAT temperatures around 80°F when warmed up. Now to see if I can get some boost out of this thing. Here is a quick video, the idle is about 1000 rpm, I'd like to get down around 8 or 900. Still needs a little tweaking.

That turned out great! Well done! I understand the graveyard thing. Seems that the only way to move up at my company is to take a promotion on graveyard and then spend the next few years building back your seniority until an open comes up during the day. 2 years in on my latest run, probably at least that much longer to go. Hang in there!

Yeah, when I first started 11 years ago, I was on graveyard for 5 years... Low man on the totem pole. Now I have seniority, and was on days for a couple years. My friend, who was on graveyard, had a heart attack! I covered for him while he was healing. He freakin got a doctor's note to not be on graveyard. Well shite. Now I'm stuck on graveyard. It's a union shop, so getting someone to swap is impossible. Oh well... At least my friend is still with us.

Still having issues getting the IAC working. Ended up sending the ECU back to Joeblow to have Mick have a look at it. Sent him a couple IAC's I was using. He's also going to look at the tachometer output. Wasn't able to get my tachometer working either. Took an entire month for the package to reach Australia... You think USPS is slow, try shipping something to Australia.

Bummed I wont be able to make Bugorama in May, may have to wait till the September show.

Mick from Joeblow was finally able to test my ECU. The IAC is now functional, I sent him both of the ones that weren't working for me. He'll be testing the tachometer output today. Hopefully get that thing shipped back to me soon. But probably won't get it till late June I would imagine... Gonna have to go to the September Bugorama this year.

Mick from Joeblow completed tests and fixes for my ECU and has sent it back! So the IAC issue has been resolved and is now working properly. Problem was, I bought his EFI kit in pieces. I purchased his ECU and harness, I did not purchase his sensors. So, it wasn't setup for the sensors provided obviously. I bought what he recommended off Amazon, everything worked accept the IAC. I guess there is a potentiometer used for IAC function adjustments, he adjusted the pot and the IAC I sent now works. I also had an issue with my tachometer I purchased from ISPWest. Joeblow's documentation provided requires a relay to simulate a coil for proper tachometer function. I sent Mick the Widgetman BTAC2 coil simulator (basically a 12v relay with the switch function gutted) for testing purposes. He ran multiple tests with a couple tachometers and relays he had on hand. After not being able to get his to work, he updated my ECU firmware to the latest v.202207.2, which has a tacho startup sweep function. He thought perhaps with new tacho functionality, maybe the problem would be fixed. Still having issues. Tried another tacho, and the problem seemed to clear?? I was using the relay installed close to the ECU at the rear of the Ghia. He recommends installing the relay next to the tacho. Anyway, the ECU is on its LONG journey back to the states. His packages sent seem to arrive much faster than sending them to him. Hopefully that is the case. Hope to be able to have her running and tuned in time for Bogorama in September. Fingers crossed.

Me too. Gonna be nice to tune warm up and ultimately not have to touch the throttle when starting. And to have a working tachometer, in the end looking for the stock look dash. Saw on Facebook, someone was using a boost gauge with a VW authentic look. Would like to find one that has both vacuum and boost.
