Who makes this header ?

Jeff
Hey Jeff

I bought all my header pieces from SPD Exhaust. They have VW flanges and v-bands.Lots of cool stuff.
I failed to understand how a bend is measured at first and ordered many incorrect j-tubes and u bends.
I ordered mild steel to save money then had it ceramic coated. There is a custom engine brace to make it easier to build the header for the early bay bus.

I built this normally aspirated EFI setup for a buddy a few years ago. Now he wants a little boost so I am whipping up a nice hidden turbo system for his 67 bug that fits completely under the closed decklid and the turbo wont be visable at all. just a little more fabrication left, some more ceramic coating, and some custom tinwork to seal up the engine compartment.

Stock tin was modified to help hide the turbo and keep all of the heat out.
With a dual stage meth injection system and a proper tune, I expect it to run quite cool and make LOTS of daily driving power.

Haltech.
It has been running really good N/A for a while now. Just need to move a few sensors and re-tune it for the boost now.

Can you show a pic of it when it was naturally aspirated?

Sure (probably not appropriate for this forum).

It looks like it was meant to go turbo from the beggining. Was the NA form of it just a test?

It sure looks good. And nice to have the turbo out of the engine bay.
I have yet to fire my engine so I don't know what problems I will have with heat from the turbo sitting in the enginebay.

I don't know.
He never said anything about turbo when I originally built it.

He asked me to build a single TB setup and that's what I did.

I don't think you will have any specific "problems" as many people run turbos in the engine bay.
Just make sure it is well ventilated and ceramic coat everything.
Your motor is air cooled so if the cooling air is hot, it will run hot.

It's going to circulate a lot of air through that engine bay so taking into consideration that you live about 20 miles from me and over a border your weather is going to affect the temperatures by a quite a bit.
You might see some higher temps in the late summer but otherwise I would guess it would be minimal........but I could be wrong......

You will be able to tell pretty quickly since your IAT's will tell you what your ambient air temps are at all driving conditions.

If it is above 90-100 degrees at cruise there might be some effect from the turbo..heating the intake air outside of passing through the turbo itself and therefore heating the engine cooling air.

This is our new VeePort Pro BOV.
It is SUPER small and very high flowing. The piston is a an extra lightweight hard anodized alloy that has also been teflon coated and it reacts FAST.
