Damn Chip! I have the flu so I've been stuck pretty much in the house (shopping mostly). I just finished reading your entire thread start to finish. You definitely have had your share of hurdles! Any plans for this winter with it?
I didn't learn this stuff by reading books! I learned by doing it, and making the occasional bad choice along the way. Luckily, I don't have piles of broken stuff laying around either, other than cylinders I suppose. I do have lots of spare parts for the day I chose build another big engine though, so thats nice..I guess.
I should have just left the car at the v2.0 stage. I think I'm on 2.7 right now. 3.0 may be around the corner. Right now too many other projects are in the way. So its sitting on the side of my house under a nice wintery blanket. The engine needs to come out and get leaked down. Its burning obscene amounts of oil right now and I don't know why, it has new rings and cylinders, but the heads may be in need of servicing. I may have both sets of big heads I have for it redone. Always nice to have spares.
I'd still love to try out the compound turbo stuff, and the 1641 might make the perfect test bed for that.
For now its on ice. My backup driver is all apart awaiting an engine rebuild. Hopefully I can get that knocked out next week. And then maybe, just maybe I'll slide the bug into the garage for its turn under the knife.

Hey chip I found that pump you told me about for a crazy good price. I'm curious though, do you have it sticking out of the top of the tank? Looks like it should mount to the top or something?

Mine doesn't stick out. I do have the hump tank though, so it is pretty tall.

That makes sense. I wasn't sure how you handled that 90 degree bend in it. It just makes it look like it should be sticking out the top.

I would like to point out that the bracket and setup as shown isn't how mine ended up looking when I dropped it into the tank. I used hose clamps and a different type of hose. One actually rated to sit in e85. Also I have a filter on the end of the pump. Couldn't find a sock for it, ended up with an expensive little billet part for it.

Thanks for the tip. I will look for a sock before I order the pump.
Hey chip do you happen to have a pic of your header on the car from the bottom? It looks like I would have to be pretty low to get across the trans but it's hard to visualize.

Well, I've just started a new phase in the Turbo EFI program. Fired the bug up last night, let it run for a few minutes, then formatted the SD card, loaded up a generic tune and pulled the MS3-Pro out. I shipped it to the other side of the country this evening after work.
Other changes are coming too. Should be fun!

Sticking with the same family. Just went with the MS3-Pro Ultimate. Gonna require a complete rewire though. It's a lot bigger than my old unit, and unfortunately won't fit in the same spot.
