The compound was fun, I won't lie. It got lots of attention too, but it was a lot of work, and ultimately it felt like I was trying to make two inefficient turbos try to act like one nice one. I figured why not just try buying a nice one. After lots of consulting with Mario(thank again for your counsel), I settled on one that hopefully will do the trick. It should have headroom for days, and a modern design that hopefully will come to life quickly and be happy with plenty of rpm on the top end. I'm trying to get the car together for a big event in Las Vegas in October. Hopefully I can make it happen. Wally the turbo came in a blue and brown box. Hopefully it does a good job.

Can't go wrong with that :D

Compound is a lot of work indeed and 95% of the time the proper single will do all you need and better.
For some set-ups I still think its awesome and gives a range that otherwise really is impossible to get.
I still think what I had for the 1200 compound Challenge engine, was great, but I made an tiny mistake on the crank, which made me leave the project alltogether as well. Maybe one day..

You guys really make it hard to want to even try a compound set up.

It’s a fair amount of planing and work to set up and both you and Wally basically are in the it’s not worth it camp.

It's all about picking the right turbo......and knowing what you want out of your setup.
I've spent a fair amount of thought on a compound setup and I haven't come up with a reasonable layout that would be worth doing...yet.

As much as I want to try the Holset turbo either singularly or compound...it just hasn't jumped out and said ......do it this way.

As I said......pick a hp target you want and then buy or find a turbo that will support that target.

As much fun as 400 hp out of a small engine would be... there is going to be some sacrifice to get there.

Chip has a good combo since he has the cubic inches to get there fairly easily........I'll continue my rambling on my own thread........

Already sold the header and first turbo I purchased for the car. Another VW of mine may inherit a few boost bits from it's big brother, but not much, probably the little blow off, the muffler and one of the wastegates. The intercooler is probably headed to a friend of mine, not sure what will happen with the plenums and other tubing...

You got it with a single scroll turbine housing? Which one exactly is it?
