6 hours of driving and we made it to the North Bend/Coos Bay dune area. We got into almost anything one can think of other than snow and ice. Roads being blocked due to new building or fixing. Fog and rain down here right now.
Expect to maybe have some fun as my wife's kids and their kids will be here and only one of them has reached the 10 years of age thing while the other three are quite a few years younger.
Its going to be interesting!

Re: Report from the southern Oregon Dunes
Had heavy rain last night and more today. One of the guys went out on the dunes this AM and they are soggy. The tracks of others out there are deep and collapse in when someone is near them.
Supposed to be not so wet tomorrow but it will take longer than 24 hours to clean things up.

Still overcast and light rain. Not much wind out either but the day is starting out to be not like yesterday.

The weather better today. The sand is still soft but there seems to be some riders out there (I have battery and ignition switch problems. Got the charger on so we will see tomorrow. I may have to get a new ignition switch as it doesn't want to give up the ignition key
.

Re: Report from the southern Oregon Dunes
The weather this AM was rough due to a series of fronts moving through the area. Winds and rain light then heavy then back to light again then heavy. Like this all AM. Checking the weather on line it is either clearing up or this will continue on!
Otherwise, it is nice and quiet, other than gun fire (not sure where it came from, but it was close by) most of yesterday, plus changes in the weather but no rain then.

Re: Report from the southern Oregon Dunes
The sun is out and there are riders on it. Some 2 wheelers and other off-shore 4 wheelers.
They are nuts out there too. Some of the "don't do" signs have been removed by riders and they are going like crazy in some of those areas. One place where there have been people hurt really bad has again, been turned into a full speed trail including the ramp out of the trail. One blocked off area that intersects with that trail was blocked off by the park surface as it was being used for jumping as is the ramp for that trail being used for jumping. Years ago, a girl was run into by speeders coming out of the trail at high speed, it too 4 months before they knew if she was to live or die.
One of the main entrances has riders trying to convert it for jumping by removing the signs for what is and the speed limits on it.
Anyway, it is still wet our but the sun and high white clouds are out.

Re: Report from the southern Oregon Dunes
What a drive back to the Seattle area. Very heavy fog in the AM in the Coos Bay/North bend area going almost up to Olympia WA. Most of it was very heavy going up just south of Salem OR but still there. A rough drive and very heavy with traffic especially in the north part of Oregon then Seattle was a mess from north Olympia though Seattle.
