Culhane is just a tranny builder. He uses a Turbo 400 case, then adds the good stuff. Manual valve body, kevlar clutch packs, etc. Alot of the desert race guys that run trucks run his trans.
I saw on another site he (Desertguy) has a thread that is now some number of pages long on smaller Class 1 type cars. Something along the lines of a trophylite, of C1 Lite, currently being built and raced. Something about racing with his son. These are smaller 2 seat versions of the fullsize unlimited cars. For 40k, you can have a great car, with tons of power, due to power/ weight ratio.
On the hint...I will assume that's a 5.3 vortec motor, so I'd love to say you'll be getting one or the other. Trophylite runs and Ecotec, so that;s out. Fusion makes the C1 lite, but I don't know what powerplant they run. A decent V8 in a 4 seater? Uh oh...I might have to ask to go back out to working in Indio for a while. =)

I took all of those formulas I mentioned in that other thread (The "Sweetspot" One) and plotted everything out. What I found was that all of the formulas landed you in basically the same spot. My final numbers are a little different than the pic but not by far. For my application, the "sweetspot" had an allowance of 1.50" +/- fore/aft before any changes were noted that had any concern. Keep in mind that I will be running in the neighborhood of 31" axles (cannot remember exact length now but its written down somewhere). Im sure the "sweetspot" tightens up the narrower you make the footprint of the car. Where I ended up setting the trans, I will not exceed 21.5 degrees in the 20" of travel with the 935 CV's.
Basically, given the width of the car, the more forgiving that measurement is... for the sweetspot.

Ok, cruzing through tis again for inspiration I come across this post. So I'm on my iPod and only see a little bit of the screen. I read this out loud to the wife cause I think it's funny!
Then...... I find out I wrote it after she asks "so I'm not the only one". I did actually tell her that it was me who posted that........and currently pulling the same poop!
