Hello all
My names Justin and I live in Connecticut just on the border of Massachusetts. The current Volkswagen I have is a 1981 Caldwell D13s Formula Vee racecar. I bought it to do tractors and autoX days. Its current engine is a 1200 cc built for the Formula Vee race series in New England buy a company out of Pennsylvania. I’m looking to upgrade to a more powerful engine in the future. In high school I had a 1970 Volkswagen bug and over the years I’ve had several Buses other bugs and I built a Volks rod about 10 years ago. At one time I was also given a Meyers Manx doom buggy to restore. I have very basic skills in regards to automotive stuff and rely a lot on friends in the Internet for information. It surprises me that I haven’t been a member of this group yet. I look forward to learning more about how to make my race car faster.

Welcome to STF. There is a lot of info here over a multitude of ACVW things.

Whether it was a typo or intentional the term "Doom Buggy" is interesting and fun. I have one and am building another.

Bought a 68 a week or two ago. Brought the paint back. Did a weeks worth of cleaning. Got the brake lights and low beams working. I still need a horn and wipers. All of the big ticket important items are there and in good shape. I haven't found any rust, but have found a ton of spiders. I made some mahogany floor mats. Next up is some new rubber for the windows and a new high back seat for the passenger.

Welcome here.

Looks like your on your way with this one. The change of sparkle on the hood is showing pretty good work done.

Wow, that looks like it might actually buff out!
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Hi from Kangaland,

Met up with the owner & restorer of this '64 Bug @ lunchtime today. Put a deposit down & now await it's RWC in the NY.

Basic rundown. It's had a few engineered mods. 1600 single port, discs up front & later front seats. I think front guards have been replaced or indicators attached to top of front fenders? Late rear parcel tray. Restored 3 months ago. Bare metal prep & spray & reco engine & interior.

The best news I got was it is a genuine German import! Not an Aussie smacked together one as most here were so, more valuable & better quality build ;)

Happy New year!! I'm an old school guy, my primary interest is anything air cooled. Long time Airhead rider currently recovering from being hit on Red, my 87 R80RT.
bye His grace I'm still sucking air and taking up space.........
Poor typer but it actually is good therapy for my TBI/concussion from getting hit. It was December of 2022 and I had a breakthrough in November but stll getting a little better every day.
I'm an A/P so I built an Airbike in 1999 and will NOT fly behind a 2 stroke..........as a Mechanical Fascist we believe they are straight from the pits of hell
So I built a 1/2 VW...that's my primary reason for signing up on STF.
I live near the Burgh and hang out at FWQ.
Typing was hard for me before the crsh and now it's not a lot of fun, so I hope not being a beetle head won't be held against me.
Wen I figure out how to I will put on pics,
