"Ran when parked" as they like to say. Luckily someone had the presence of mind to drain all the fuel from it before sticking it away for three+ years. Anyway, I'll be hanging around here and seeking out tidbits of info in an effort to get this car road-worthy once again.
Askem if ya gottem, as they say. If it's stock it's really just a beetle engine and lawnmower simple.

Okay, this is my third time trying to post. Lucky for you guys, my intro gets shorter and shorter. lol

My name is Carol and this is my late model ‘69 (registered as a ‘70) Beetle. Her name is Frieda. I bought it a few years ago but am just now really able to be bop around in it. It’s been decades since my last big and I had almost forgotten how much I love driving, hearing, seeing, and tinkering on a bug! Yep, I am VERY happy!

I’m not going to try posting a pic. Perhaps that is what went wrong the first two tries. Anywho, I very glad to be here and look forward to learning from and swapping stories with fellow V-Dubbers.

Hi
I’m a VW, HotRod and Race car fanatic Drag and Circuit as I’ve worked on most stuff over the years
I have been since I was 10 years old in the late 60’s, I’ve built race Beetle motors in the 70’s 80’s 90’s and now in the new millennium whichI’ve just realised is 25 years in.🤷‍♂️

I currently Drag Race an 84 Mexibug with a built 2276 turbo motor which so far has run 10.36 @ 134mph on just 5psi boost.
I raced a 1303 in the 80’s and 90’s and it was a street legal car (UK) which I greatly enjoyed in the UK’s VWDRC championship and it eventually ran 10.65 et @126mph in 93.

I’m currently building a 1303 that is going to be my last due to my age and lack of finances, so I’m currently collecting all the necessary bits to make it the car I want.
N/A 2276, late 3.88 box, koni sport struts, special length and with adjustable spring plates and shorter length, converting the 74 1303 steering box to 75 on 1303 steering rack. 944 rear alloy arms with 4 pot brakes etc, not going German look as such as I don’t follow others rules I just build how I want.

Cheers JB

Anyway enough about me and my VW affliction

JB,
Awesome story! Sweet pics! And if I had followed my mechanical inclination when I was younger, I might understand the specs and builds you described. :-). I’ll just say it’s great to have people with real knowledge and experience here.

I have just purchased a 1952 MG TD on a 1971 Volkswagen chassis. She is in very good condition. I have to bleed the brakes and may have to get a new starter. What I am looking for is a 2 bow convertible top with side curtains for a reasonable price. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Bdub

Welcome to the STF!

A MGTD top is a bit outside of the norm here, but we may have some folks...
A kit car or perhaps MG forums would probably get faster results for the roof of the car, as it probably uses ~stock parts for the roof. (MG parts, or aftermarket MG bits)
An MGTD or even MGTD kit car forums is also likely to exist, perhaps even one for the kit manufacturer.
(they used to be pretty common kits)

For the engine/brakes etc, plenty of help here.
