Re: Side mount turbo
As requested... sort of. Here is a quick vid going around the block. Tune is about 75% complete. Still need to set Accel Enrichment and timing. Fueling just needs to be smoothed out but these will have to wait until I'm on the dyno.
Enjoy.

Sounds great man! Nice job!
I would try to tune as much as possible before adding accel enrichment though.

Accel is really all that's left. Idles smooth, cruises at 14-15:1, and pulls like a train at WOT. Only issue really is throttle tip in. If I snap the throttle too quickly it will hesitate for half a second.

Understood. Sometimes you can go in and manually add fuel to the cells that need it and that helps. But the AE is there for a reason. Gotta give it what it wants.

Re: Side mount turbo
It's been a while since I posted to this thread but I finally got a few pictures of my turbo setup outside the car. You;ll notice that the Up-pipe after the collector has been upgraded from 1-5/8" pipe to a 2" pipe. This allowed the turbo to spool up a few hundred RPM sooner.
Enjoy...

Re: Side mount turbo
Yes! The turbo (TD04-13L) originally had an internal waste-gate, of which I'm sure was more than enough for what I'm using it for. I welded the internal gate passage closed and added the external gate for better / easier boost control (main reason was so I can run open dump on the gate).
