Hi adz enjoyed the youtube clips and your et and mph have improved
from your first post on this subject .i think your hope of 11 s is realistic
for santa pod, the surface as you know is always top class. in comparison
that sort of quarter mile performance would cost££££££££ s more for a Type 1 and shorter longevity congrats

Cheers Nigel.

Well there was no 11 out of the car last weekend, only managed a 12.6 :?

I've got a cool slo-mo video from Blacketts Photography(the official Santa Pod photographer) and as soon as i can figure out how to trim it down, i'll post it for peeps to have a look at. Its really good for seeing just what exactly is happening to your car when you launch it

Anyways, i'm back at York for round 3 of Air Cooled Eliminators this weekend and i shall be giving it what for again  r

I think it needs some fancy software to edit it, its way above my IT skills

It plays with Quicktime and you'll have to skip to around 36 seconds in before things start to happen but its worth it :D

That is SO cool! I thought the sounds was off, but in slow-mo there was no sound haha!
Nice wheely!! It seems like you almost lift the wheels again in second?
Very good start with just a little wheelspin.

Thanks!

Wow, never saw a launch in slo-mo before... Super Cool! 8)

Hard to tell, but is that a normal amount of frame-horn flexing?
Do you have a Kafer bar, or other traction device?

So sweet how the car almost looks like it's comong clear off the ground!

Cheers guys.

The frame horns are no longer used in my current set up.

I use a standard 091 2 litre bus box that is hung on a sectional piece of steel that is welded to the rather substantial roll cage.

It is completly solid mounted and makes some 'orrible noises the return road

I guess most cars probably would show the exhaust bouncing off of the pavement if you saw them in slow-mo.
Have seen wheel hop that really looks like Hop that slow...

What your video shows is probably more like a 'skitter' or 'scrubbage', considering the slowness of the motion.

i wasn't trying to talk no trash, just figgering what those parts look like during a launch filmed like that.

Ah, right, now I see what you mean! I think the exhaust moving that much would worry me too to be honest.
Maybe he should at least fixate the silencer some more to the header?

These slo-mo movies are really usefull :!:

Wow, it's about time I gave you guys an update

Well, a lot has happened since my last post, ahem...

I got married to my beautiful girlfriend and had two wonderful children :D

I kept racing the bug up until the end of 2011, with a best ET of 12.22 with no more modifications, other than another 091 box with welded synchro spider gears and allegedly a gear set intended for a 2.0l turbo Subaru conversion for a T25!

At the end of 2011 I was starting to hanker after a different race car....and along came this....
Image

It was a bit of a basket case but to cut a very long story short (over two years in the making!), it now looks like this....
Image

And thanks to my using my trusty TIV and 091 combo, it also looks like this....

And this...

Any way, I had one meeting in it at the end of last year mainly as a test session and over the winter sorted the little niggles that transpired.

So this season I have used it proper, getting very close to an 11! (12.03 @ 113mph).
I decided to upgrade my ignition to an MSD Digi 6 and at last weekends race meet I got an 11.87:-) followed by a couple more 11.9s.
Very chuffed with that.
This weekend I am going to Santa Pod, Europes best track and I shall be turning the gas on, yeehaa!!

So my next post might be news of a low 11 or a pile of bits for sale;-), lol.

Nice update!
Did you ever figure out the make of the rods?
Were they Oliver rods?

Alas no low 11's at the weekend due to a broken shocker and a loose shifter linkage :(

Still managed a 12.01 without gas and it didn't break :D

I'll get it fixed and have another go later this month 8)
