If faced with only putting 2 on, put them on the front (if same or narrower than rears) as driven wheels allegedly have ~no rolling resistance.
(Or at least that was AUDIs theory at one point, came up when they developed the UrQuattros, and they still went JUST as fast as 2WD despite the increased drivetrain losses)
I have just about gotten back to ~35 MPG (US) with my setup (went from MS2>MS3+changing WB setups) and the next step is going to be a 914 5 speed or LRR tires. or both, when the tires are in need of replacement.
Tire pressures and wheel alignment really start to be critical once you are trying for >35 MPG.
14point7.com has a new $99(OK, $105 this week) sealed analog-only flying lead WB system that just came out.
...including sensor.
i think your right but i'll have to wait untill after these are cracked ect to swap them.
interesting on the front only idea, i guess it make sense, you having to shove the fronts i guess!
will look into those widebands thanks

It's all in the ... throttle foot.
I go between 25-32 MPG for no apparent reason, seems to be traffic related, mostly.

i agree mate, traffic, road speed, weather maybe... how heavy my foot in.... i rarely floor it now, goes almost as fast if i dont really.... seemingly! i also put my foot down slower so the pump doesnt squirt so much fuel

Andy-I just took a trip down memory lane and read the first page of this thread, back in July you were a complete newb to ignition tuning. Fast forward it to today, you have a complete understanding and the ability to feel what the motor wants. That is a very powerful skill to have, I can't wait to see what you do with the big motor. Tuning ignition is the tricky one, tuning fuel is literally a walk in the park is you have a wideband.

Yeah tell me about it! took me ages to get my head around it all the first time but now i look back and thing how easy it would be to do again!
maps changed a bit too
!!!!
thanks for your help bud!
true what you say about seeing how it feels EG that bit around 75-85 and 1000-1500rp, where its advanced more, thats due to me living on a hill and when i pull away and crawl up it in first its right there on the map and it needed a little more in that one patch to pull smooth especially when cold.... i really only use that area for that situation, but you wouldnt get that if i had of just got it dyno tuned....
fun journey! hopefuly the transition to EFI is a smooth one huh!

that makes sense..... and maybe my lazy driving going a bit quicker, just re adjusted the brakes but none were binding, will check the tyre psi tomorrow...
also i dont think my engine is warming up very well so installed a stat, will see how it goes! i was getting mayo in my cap and i do regular 30 min runs(50-60mph) so should be getting hot
