Excellent work gentlemen! :D

Wesayso, regarding the original cam journals in the case, will the oil galleries be left alone, and a jack-shaft (dummy cam) run in place of the OHV cam in order to drive the oil pumps, or will the galleries be blocked off somehow, and the oil pumps be driven externally with a belt?

We will use a belt driven oilpump without a dummy camshaft.
More details will follow I'm sure ;)

Well are you going to build a blow up engine? Or are funds limited?

Finally a new Update ;)

Be sure to check out our site for some new Rapid Prototyping pictures!

We are very pleased with the results :D

This step should help us with the final checks to see if everything fits and all is in place. It took us quite some time but reading the forums helped us find a company to make this model for us.

That company is Approto.com for those who wonder.

We hope you are as exited as we are...

What is most noticeble is the different shape of the in - and exhaust port with respect to the original casting (see the site for the differences in the pictures). A lot of redesigning has also been put into the fixation of the future inlet manifold and the exhaust manifold.
It looks awesome Ronald :D

I know you also did a lot of work to get an ideal valve geometry into the uprated model. Unfortunately that is s/th that cannot be seen from these pictures, but trust me guys: its there!

How will the oil pump on your engine with the new heads be operated.

Look at the second post from the top. A dry-sump oil pump will be used.

But why run a belt driven oil pump couldn't you guys use one of pauters two stage oil pumps in the stock oil pump location.

We won't be using anything in the old cam position for our prototype engine, we will use a seperately driven dry sump pump.
However it would be possible to run a dummy cam shaft and use it to drive a dry sump pump that way.

I have done alot of business with APProto, and I must say. They are great people to work with. Always fast, quality parts, reasonable price, and if a mistake is made (rarely), they bend over backwards to make it right.

Everyone I have talked to has been friendly and very helpful.

If you have 2 separate heads....

won't you have trouble keeping the cam bearing journals true?

How will they be aligned?

Well, Porsche 6s use some sort of floating key between the cam sections... and have 3 heads on each side to keep lined up.
The Patent (if any) on that design has long since expired, so I'd personally go with something like that, well proven to work.

I might even design the "clean sheet" head to use existing cam blanks... Not sure if that was possible tho.

Your thread about the trottle bodies in which you mentioned APProto lead us to them in the first place
Thanks for the tip!
