***No Coast meeting in Little Sahara 7-9 October 2011

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

***No Coast meeting in Little Sahara 7-9 October 2011

Post by Leatherneck »

Hey guys the first week of August there are going to be some of us meet at L/S in Ok, I will be there from late on the 1st to at least the morning of the 7th. We are going to have a barbecue Friday night the 4th. If any here can make it that would be great, always enjoy meeting and having a few beers with other off-roaders. Will Probably be staying in North Camp or Cowboy Camp. IF at all possible just post here if you can make it. If you get a wild hair up your ass and decide to come later that is great too.

I think my paddles would wear out by the time I got there...or at least on the way back.

There is always a chance. What are you thinking? No not that, about riding Off-road.

A winter get-together sounds great. Dump those paddles and replace them with worn-out tires. Run some sheet-metal screws through them from the inside. Add some Milnot, air 'em up and enjoy the ice!! Or forget the screws/studs, and just enjoy siliding around!

Rails do get to be just a *bit* chilly, though...

Is Sahara open over the winter?

Unfortunately up here we work like freakin army ants all summer... then hibernate over the winter.

To pick a time, I'd have to find out what time our requirements are for the 1000 in November etc.

I'd love a reason to get away in the winter... it's 100 outside now... should be -10 in 6 months.

Now why did I move from Pismo? Anyone in Cali can tell you.

Making the list and checking it twice, man have to bring the trailer even if the buggy wasn't in it. Tow straps good idea, also bringing plenty of water containers and and E-tool for digging me out.

Yeah, Leather, those oughta work perty good. Damn--that look like a brand new tire ya boogered up!! We always used old ones.

Have fun in the thriving metropolis of Waynoka. It's been about 20 years since I've been out there. There's more nothing out there than I've ever seen in one place before.

If I get my rail up and running before then (very unlikely--too danged hot to work on it once it gets up over 90 or so), I may just drive it out and see what's going on.

Otis, what ya do is wake up about 3:00am grab a case of suds out of the fridge put 1/2 in the frezzer and start working on the rail, turn the wrench take a swig, adjust the carbs drink another and another and before ya know it your drunk and the engine is in the drivers seat and your sitting outside with no clothes on. Well it worked for me.

Sounds like a GREAT idea for progress. Only problem is that first line...3 o'clock in the morning??? Did the early morning thing for years in the food biz. Got canned (why are supervisors so touchy about being told they are more incompetent as a super than they were as a manager??) Wasn't smart enough to get out of it then, so changed companies and did the 24/7/365 food thing for 10 years--I know, I'm a slow learner... I'm still catching up on 18 years of missed sleep. I haven't seen 3 am awake for three years. Other than that, it's a great idea. It's also the only way to play golf--a beer per hole.
