NOS gas tank for sale on the samba- I believe it is an early style though. IIRC, this is what I found on my cars: On the early style tank, the fuel level sender access port is centered and uses the style that attaches with a number of small bolts instead of the later one, which I believe has the offset access port for the sender and a different type of sender with exposed float and a type of twist-and-lock system to secure instead of bolts.

I believe everything through 73 used the 6 bolt style. Ray

Yes, that seems to be what I found. All the '74's I have use the later style, while the '73 has the early style, like this tank.

I do know that some of the late type 3 senders will work in the bolted in type unit. Ray

Somebody snapped it up right away, of course. Damn, I have a sender, but, of course, I can't get to my stuff right now! :( On the plus side, the house may be sold soon, so I would be making a trip out there to get some cars and parts.

Here's another interesting item for sale, maybe somebody can better identify it as fitting the front or rear? If I had any money whatsoever right now, it would already be on its way to me!
