Guidance tube with manual tranny

Does anyone know if I can use a type 1 (beetle) front guidance tube bushing for the manual shift rod? It sits in front of the shifter in the tunnel and is probably white plastic (once).

I have finally disected all of the tranny/shifting parts in my spare 412 and noticed that there is a front bushing in there very similar to a bug's bushing. In the spare 412 the old bushing was found on the bottom of the center tunnel, in parts and brittle as hell...
I suspect my own 412 may need a new one very probably as well. I already looking forward to the improved shifting

Tnx,
Walter

Yes, I have used a type 1 bushing. It works well, but fits a little looser around the groove in the body. I tightened it up with a wrap of yellow Teflon "gas tape". Works great. Really a beast to install...I hope you have long fingers and an inspection mirror. Ray

Yeah, my fingers are long, but thick also
thanks for the confirmation.
Guess I am going to disassemble my shifting rod and coupling soon
