Where did you get your lower tins and alt. stand? Looks pretty good, I'm not into carbs though. Quite a crank pulley on there, too.

What pulley are you running on the lower end?

The lower tin had to be made up, unfortunatly i dont have any pics of these off the engine but i just got a flat piece of plate bolted to the bosses behind the pulley (fan housing mount i think)and with the trimmed up large rear tin attached i drew the radius on the flat plate.I then cut it allowing enough to bend over a flange so it tucks under the rear bit.Lower deflector plates are just 21swg tin bent to the same shape as the type 1 equivilent part and thats basically all i did for the whole conversion .I just looked at the type 1 and put tinware in a relative position.
See also my post in the "why choose a tpye 4 ".
The pulley i made myself (i used to be a production engineer). Its way over the top ,made from stainless steel as i was going to lighten the flywheel and thought this would stop any crank flexing at high rpm .I will probably make an ally one as i never got round to lightning the flywheel.
Pedastool is a cut off type 1 part bolted to a milled ally plate that fits into the breather tower.I have remade this part since these pics to remove that spacer.
I made all the tin for this in around 1994 but got it in the car just two years ago .Since the internet revoloution i have found plenty of people who have done similar conversions but here is a link to the best site i have seen regarding this type of conversion which has been badged the Cali Conversion in America.

Answered in Jadewombats reply. One thing to mention though is that i am using an "A" section belt which is wider than stock(Wider vee in pulley). This is because i angled the fan housing across the engine slightly to even out the airflow over the cylinders this of course compromised the alignment but with the wider belt i have had no problems. You have probably seen the DTM kit by Jake Raby which cured this by doglegging the fan housing. This kit looks fantastic and fairly cheap to considering the develpment that went into it.If i was doing this kind of conversion now i would probably have just bought Jakes kit as it takes all the guess work out of "will it overheat or not "?
