My turn for L-jet issues...

my car is actually running great, with fantastic power, but my MPG on the freeway at 70 mph is only 13 
the only other sign something is amiss is if i drive it for some distance and shut down for 15-20 minutes. Then, upon restart, it dies everytime i shift into gear from P. my current temp solution in that situation is to slightly rev and pop into gear. once rolling for a few moments, it idles just fine at stop lights and such.
CHT the culprit here?
