afther one year on the road test , 35kmils , this p.n. make a very good job for the air seal on the spark plug , this parts is from audi car,,, the p.n. is 443-877-241 he have 2 overlap , one by inside and one outside and the spark plug hole is close tite ,,, this is only personnel expérience ,,albert

yes ,,ray,, the ,,pn,, on my parts is 443-877-241 but in the parts book they geeve 241 b,,, i d,t can see the ,,,b,, on my parts ,,, she come from the drain pipe on the audi sunroof ,,,albert

I have been using tie rod end boots off of a 72 Toyota Land Cruiser for spark plug wire seals on my T4 VW engines. These make a complete air tight seal. New they are a little expensive like $8 each, so on my 411 engine I only used them on #2 & 4. I am sure there are boots off of many other models that would fit as well if someone knew the right source. Will try to post a pic.

yes wildthings, many vw venders sale the air seal for the spark plug and they said they fit no.1 but they are very cheep and loose and they d,t close the hole at the perfection,, the masking tape can doo a betther job ,ha,ha,,, but with this audi rubber plug , they fit very tite on the spark plug résistor (plug in) and on the motor case hole and yes for the piston no.1 and 3 were the plug -in is more short he has small loose for the spark plug wire but very small ,,, for sure we can find on différent car a good seal too, example your toyota,, with this ,,audi,, seal it is very thick, appx 1/4 " and he can stay in the hole with the vibration and the edge is large inside and outside but hard for the instalation that take small screw driver for to push the inside edge inside ,and for the price for this seal ,i d,t have the price from ,,audi,,, i take that on a old audi 1990 in the scrap yard and they cost me2$ for the bunch of 4 ,that make original, ( vw audi ) printed on the seal ,,, i geeve that only for a possible substitute ,,, albert

oh walter what do you thing of this seal,,oh i have suggestion for the 412 fans ,,, if you have need one spécial parts,,, you take the parts no. and you go to ,,google,, picture or web and you ask to google this parts no. and he geeve you all the page in the word who can sale this parts this is my secret for to find something ,,albert

Here is a pic of the tie rod end boots I have been using as spark plug wire seals. They snap right into the opening in the tin to create a nearly air tight seal.



I may have come up with a cheap source for a boot off of a later car, about a dollar a pop plus shipping. I ordered some to see what they are like. Will post once I find out.

Well my source for these boots worked out. They are slightly looser on the plug end than the others I had, but at a buck a piece they are not bad, they still seal way better than the original. Unfortunately it cost more to ship than to buy. I went ahead and purchased enough for several engines so the shipping per piece wasn't so bad. It would be neat if some VW vender would sell them in sets of four.
