warm up flap clarification...

are the warm up flaps set up to defalt to open? i ask because my flap cable is now dangling and i don't want to cook the engine. thanks!

in my 411, a cable is broken. a flap is open.
when it's cold outide, with my hand, i turn a flag during a few minutes.
i know it's not the best to do.

Yes, if they are properly installed, if the cable breaks, they default to open. There is only one way to make this wrong. If you install the drivers side flap with the link/joint in the wrong position, it will not fully open on that side. Ray

If the spring is broken or installed improperly it will not default to open even with a good cable. Pretty easy to check though.
