Nice! the 36(-40) solexes are really 40mm Solex's
make sure you install the bigger 55 idle solenoid valves instead of he stock 50 ones, which were already small-ish for the 1800..

well its the new engine is in  just got to conect it all up and make the throtle cable work and we should be able to fire her up

had to put the engine in twice as i have found out that the type 4 box is the one and only input shaft size that all other vws dont fit lol so the new clutch i got just span on the shaft

took it out and put an old friction plate back on and re fitted it ah well we learn somthing new every day lol

Great News on the transplant!! I had that clutch issue on my first try rebuild and my parts guys swore they were the same splines and I got the same thing as you with the clutch disc spinning on the shaft!! It will piss you off fast! I thought it was a clutch slave at first! You should be back cruizen soon! Good luck with the rest of the connections! bill
p.s. Is there a issue with the fuel pump and return line thing??
p.s.s. Did you pull the main shaft forward by removing that "c" clip under the rear seat or just pull the motor forward?
