Search is not what I would like it to be. We have done quite a lot of homework on this issue in the past with no solutions presenting themselves. We will continue to look for a better search facility. I appreciate your suggestion, even though it makes me more frustrated with no real answer.

I haven't searched in a while. But what I noticed that searches were taking a long time. Sometimes they would time out, but reloading the page would sometimes return results fine.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

I searched for the meaning of life and came up blank! So I will continue to find the answer.

The way the forum search function is written was to keep the search from looking for common words(a, I, the, as, with, do). This helps keep the search from loading up the server and timing out with a blank result.

Oh and your only allowed so many searches at one time to help with system resources.

best to use the AND/OR statements - weber AND tuning rather than "how do I tune a weber carb" This search would yield results for the following (all posts that have the words - how, do, I, tune, a, weber, carb ) this can be a bit of a problem for the server and cause timouts(blank screens).

Its a bit more complicated than what I have written, but I hope this will help better understand the search function.

As for the meaning of life......I got nothin! :?

i get the same if i am searching aspecific forum even when i use the boolean operators
i almost never pose the question "how do i tune a weber carb" i use tune and weber and carb
end up with a blank screen

when the search does work it comes back within 5 seconds.. if i wait longer than that it never comes in

Next time you get a blank page, try refreshing it - this usually does the trick for me.
