The current car I'm parting out has a windshield, but the clouding is quite pronounced around the lower corners. I don't think you would want it on your freshly painted car? They should all be the same, 411/412 AFAIK. I broke one trying to get it out of the car I parted out in January when I sold my property. I had all the windshield completely exposed from the outside, but it was still in there solid as a rock. I was under a terrible time crunch, tried to rush things, and broke it. They are tough to get out. You might try Parts Place: http://www.partsplaceinc.com/ just for the heck of it, they used to list them in their catalog. I know somebody has gotten a new one here: http://www.origlass.it/ but it is pricey- around $800 IIRC.

I'm not sure I'm seeing any new ones, but there are used Type 4 windshields showing at yards in SC in the search ( at least when it was working earlier).

My big question is whether a 411 and a 412 windsheild are interchangeable. If so, i found one at the car-part site.

Is there anything that you can treat the edges of a windshield with to prevent fogging? It seems like a layer of epoxy or some other sealant might make a new-used windshield last longer.

hi,,,ray ,, i thing i have the solution for to doo and install a new front glass ,, on the 412 ,, example,, if we can put on the 412 windshield ,, a model of sarand wrap, or large clear plastic foil , and afther we put on this plastick a kind of liquid and ridgid paste ( example chyprog hole filler for the home ) make a original model and afther we go in the scrap yard ( with this mold ) for to see what kind of car tooday can do a good replacement for the 412 , my first choice is from ,,,lada niva car from 1990 or appx ,, and afther we cut the widshield ( lada ) for to fit on the 412 ,, we can cut the widshield with ,,weell disk cutter blade ,,if we do the job with attention we can make that , and afther we pass a sand paper on the side for to do the finish , and stop the futur side crack,, but for me the ( poly filla or chyprog hole filler ) is not the very good stuff , if you can suggest betther suggestion for this stuff,, liquid plastic maybee ??? albert

Have you guys asked from some local glass manufacturers if they could repro these windshealds from a mold? At least here in Finland there are couple of manufacturers who can repro any glass for your car. I know at least some of these manufacturers will ship abroad. It's not the cheapest solution, but atleast then you could get the windsheald whitch would be new, laminated and in a tone you whish.

Whoa, are you talking about cutting a type 4 windshield shape out of another type of vehicle's larger windshield? I would think it would practically be a miracle if it had the right curve, but hey, I'm all for trying radical things. The Lada Niva windshield looks flatter in pictures to me? Anyway, we never got those in the United States, which is too bad actually, as they look like fun, cute, tough little 4x4 cars.
