steering column and trans swap
I need to swap out the ignition switch in my 74 Bay, and I was thinking it would be easier to change steering columns instead. I have a donor from a 78 Bay....will it work? The same for the trans, 78 into the 74.

74 and 78 use different ignition switches and as a result probably have incompatible wiring harnesses. Don't know for sure what is required to make the swap.
The 78 tranny will go into the 74 with minor mods. If you stick with the 74's bellhousing it is easier and I think it will be just a bolt in, but can be done using the 78 bellhousing as well. The 78 bellhousing is deeper than the 74 bellhousing and sets the tranny a little farther forward. If you use the 78 bellhousing you will need the shorter shift linkage from the 78 and will have to slightly modify the crossmember in front of the tranny to get clearance.
