got a nice 67 and want to update the stereo

my problem is when you look at new cd player/ ipod stereo's and the 67's wiring how the heck do ya do it. i don't want to cut the dash nor make any holes in the dash i don't need to as well as cutting the doors up for speakers, so how am i gonna tackle this project without hacking my car. thought about getting a peice of wood to put behind the rear seat for the rear speakers but how can i get them in the front without cutting everything up

I have heard of people building a stereo system for their cars and then mounting it in a suitcase, so you might be able to do something similar...

a suitcase. no not going for that like the glovebox idea but ned help wiring

I had one of the figerglass gloveboxes sitting in my closet for 5 years and just got around to this project...
Ipod adapter plugs right into the USB on the left side...no wiring necessary.
The hump for the head unit wasn't quite wide enough, so besides having to cut the hole for the mounting collar I had to thin the walls to either side of the deck just so that it fit between them...didn't hit daylight, but it was kinda' scary.
Wiring is a breeze...two power wires (one hot all the time to keep the clock from losing time, the other to operate on - simplest way is to give them both constant power from the same source - requiring you manually turn the deck on/off) for the deck and a ground...and a +/- to each speaker.
As for up front I've got the (not so) cheap plastic kick panels...that's next weekend. You can also purchase these in fiberglass. Typically mounted with four screws each...creating ~3/16" holes (easily filled-in to return to stock)
