I'm looking to add some new shocks to my '73 Thing. I was confused by some of the options available, and wanted to see what you guys thought.
Do I need to be sure to order the front shocks to fit for Ball Joints? What about the back end? Is there a particular size I should look for? If anyone has any experience in this, I'd appreciate some input.
I wont be doing any off-roading with it, just some daily or weekly driving. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
What size/kind of shocks do you recommend for Things?

You can use KR-2 shocks or if you want a better quality shock I use the Bilsteins only. For a nice selction of quality shocks for the Thing go to:

Bumpin an old post
I currently have KYB GR-2s that came on my thing beam. Next month I plan to rework the front end, adding hookstops and new balljoints (the boots are ripped on 3 of 4).
I looked up the specs and KYB GR-2s state:
Extended = 20"
Compressed = 15.5"
Looking at these:

The 6" are priced just above the price of eshocks Bilsteins.
Or since it's only 7" travel, should I save $25 and stick with emulsion shocks???

Or are the piggybacks worth the extra coin?
What do you guys recommend? Mostly offroading with the occasional street drive.

I've actually been waiting to see what the recommendations was going to be. I've got a '74 that's going to need replacements soon. I was considering having the suspensions re-worked to include springs but wasn't sure how difficult it ws going to be.
For me.. shocks first, then alterations. But no one seems to be advising on the first, much less the latter.
