Ok so Ive been seeing these fully smoked taillight lenses on supers and some standards. How do I get a set? Ive got abot 200 VW air sights, and not one has em. Any other smoked lenses would be cool too.
Also, has anyone one had decent success with Night Shades?

That's the only place i've ever seen them. A buddy bought a set of the all smoked ones and they are nicely made. However, they are a bit dark, and we had to modify the bulb holders to use different bulbs which were brighter, way brighter, to make it through the lense and thus, making it viewable by other drivers.
They have the late model "elephant" lights like above, smoke turn signal lenses (for 68), and different styles of the flat tail lights.
Hope that helps.

Are these the tailights you're talking about? What bulbs did you use? I need some brighter ones.

These (P/N CPP796) were used in place of the turn, parking, and brake bulbs. We didn't use these exact ones, but these ones are the bayonet type, and the ones that fit with no mods. I have these in my brand new stock-style lens. They are BRIGHT.
Depending on how much night driving you do, I wouldn't recommend anything higher than that. They do get pretty damn hot and will start to melt the inside of the lens.
Since reverse lights are usually only on for a few seconds, 1156 50W bulbs do a fantastic job of blasting through the lens, regardless if they're tinted or not. It'll look like the sun is rising behind your decklid from inside the car. They're a bit tougher to come buy, and aren't cheap. I'm using the ones from
HERE and they seem to be holding up. I bought a 2nd pair just to have spares available. Be careful with these and limit the backup light to less than 10 seconds or you
will start to melt the lens.
Though, if you have any off-road, truck or tractor places near-by, they'll most likely have them in stock. Some FLAPS have them, too. Worth a check.

hey so on the site that was given they are only good for 73-up. Any way to get some for the 72? Or would any suggest nightshades? If so would you spray it on the inside of the lens rather than the recommended outside?

I'm not sure about that stuff. I'd find something else to try it on, and leave it out in the elements, like direct sunlight, rain or snow, and see if it holds up for the outside portion.
Personally, I wouldn't spray anything like that on any of my lights.
If you're good with your hands, you can make your own fairly cheaply with some tinting agent added ->
DIY Lens.
I'm sure if some 71-72 lights pop up smoked, someone will chime in.

I have used niteshades before with great success. I did the taillights on my 97 mustang. I have them very dark, with stock lights and they are very visible at night.
