International type 4meeting 30-4 to 4-5-2008

Since our type 4 exists 40 years in 2008, the dutch type 4 club in coorporation with the german 411/412 club will organise an international meeting of 411 and 412 cars on the 30th of april untill the 5th of may 2008 in the Netherlands.

This is a long 'bank holiday' in our country (maybe in yours too). The meeting will be held on a camping site.
The camping site is called 'De Heische Tip', adress there is: 'Straatsven 4' and is located near the small town of 'Zeeland' in the province 'Noord-Brabant' of the Netherlands, europe.
Hopefully the club will present a road map on their site for international visitors soon. The dutch clubsite is www.412club.nl and the german one is: http://www.vw411-412besitzer.de/
One the german site, the international meeting is mentioned under 'Termine' including a link/look at the camping site with a phone number of the camping itself or you visit the link yourself: www.deheischetip.nl
You can also rent a wooden chalet/bungalow there as I understand.

Translated from the german site:
The costs of staying on the camping itself (you bring your tent or caravan) are 18 € /per night/per place. Plus 1€ taxes because its a 'spa' per person / per day! (don't even ask me what that is for..) These costs are for the camping. There is no 'entrance fee' for this 'meeting' (its very laid back usually andmore a family get-together by nature)

Friday we all have a barbecue together (tradition each year), the dutch club will bring a large grill and coal but each person has to take care of his own food he wants to put on the grill.

Also a tradition is that on saturday there is a common dinner will be held.
The dinner is a warm and cold buffet (sp?). Kids will be taken care off regarding there dinners. This will be held in a large room of the camping site building, where all your liquid 'needs' can be catered for 8)

The costs of the buffet/dinner will be € 17,50 per person for adults and € 5,50 per child.

Achtung !!! The 412 Club Holland needs to know untill thursday before the meeting how many will attend the dinner, please let this be known before thursday if you plan to come only as off friday or saturday.

Näheres dazu und auch alle anderen Fragen bezüglich des Treffen könnten ihr hier loswerden:
With all your questions please use this email:
info@412club.nl

I hope I have translated the above it as accurate as possible, no responsibilities taken tho :P

They hope to gather 40 type 4's which would be an all time record these days. The dutch club exists already from 1981 and when they were new, more cars have been counted, but some 25 years later, 40 cars would be awesome.

So, bring you and your type 4 over to make some unique photo's of a field full of type 4's! :D
I am not the official contact of the club, but for questions you can mail the adress mentioned or maybe I/we (?) can help you in this thread here  .

CU there,
Walter

That sounds like a lot of fun!!! I hope you guys can bring along a camera and share the pictures with the rest of us. It's great that the 411/412 has such a strong following on the other side of the Atlantic.

Have fun!

Unfortunately 'only' 28 type 4's turned up, ut that's not bad either. It was a great day with a great dinner on saturday evening!

I love the pictures!!! Thanks!!!

I so wish I could have been there. That is got to be the largest collection of Type 4s outside of the VW factory in the '70s. :)

Great photography Walter! Excellent collection of 4's. I love the Germanlook Yellow Variant. What's the story behind the vent window? Thanks for sharing 8)

Thanks fellows!
Bill, the vent window was an original option for those spoiled by the beetles stock vent windows
To be honest, I miss the vent windows in the doors too

What a sight

Would love to have made it across for this but never mind. I liked the look of the quarter light windows on the green 411, like some of the others I do miss them blasting the cool air onto you as you go along...I love driving my wifes beetle for that on a hot day 8)

Are there any plans to make this into an annual gathering of Type 4s or was it a one off for the 40th anniversary? Might be able to drag a few others over from the UK if it happens again next year :D
