Thing convertible tops

Hi, Im in the process of finishing up a complete restoration of a 1974
VW Thing. I have been buying a lot of my parts from the Thing Shop
with no problems. I'm at the point where I need to get the top for it.
My frame and bows appear to be in good shape. When I talk to the
Thing Shop about getting just the top, they practically refuse to sell me
the top by itself. They say that I have to get the complete package
of frame, bows and top from them. Have any of you run across this
problem? Do you have any favorite vendors for Thing tops?

I have good quality new and used soft tops available
