gas tank vent

VW's aircooled mini SUV. Great for riding in the country, or cruising the beach.

gas tank vent

i am restoring a 74 thing . i am going to elimate the canister
under the hood and the charcoal canister. i know i have to vent the
gas tank. how is the best way to do it.

Attach a line to the small vent on the tank and run it to a fuel filter and that will help to vent the system.

If you are doing a true restoration then why would you eliminate the stock charcoal canisters? Probably the best way to vent it would be to maintain the existing stock set up. You have to be very careful with any potential spillage - especially on paint. Just my 2¢.

I vented mine over by the filler neck and drilled a hole to get it through to the area below the tank. I also removed the charcoal canister.
