the powder coater broke the brass tang off the bottom of the steering column tube.
which i think is the horn's earth connection.

i can't find a similar piece of brass to replace it.

i've got a feeling i need to attach a wire where the tang was rivetted, and put a spade connector on the other end. however, this might foul on the steering.

has anyone else fixed this?

Get a 1/4" male spade, does not have to be brass, tinned metal is okay, FLAPS have them, unfortunately you will have to buy a bag or five or ten, drill out the old rivet and rivet the new spade on. That is not the earth, that is the circuit from the horn that goes up the tube so that when you push the horn button the ground is completed, the ground comes from the steering box bolted to the frame, hence the reason for the plastic isolator at the base of the tube
