hey folks! i am removing the headliner in my '72 bus and have never done it before. can anyone walk me through the process so i don't destroy my car? i'm going to replace the headliner with 1/8" birch hopefully, but for now i just need to get the old headliner out. thanks for any help!

You are not going to get it out in one piece. The sides down to the windows are glued, the center is held up by metal cross rods. You will need to take the sun visors off. Just take a razor and split it side to side at the rods and start pulling it out, avoid bending the rods, they are sellable. You might want to keep the strip that is glued on the sides down to the windows, since your birch will not go all the way to the windows and it may look better than bare metal. The glue VW used is tough stuff, mineral spirits will sort of disolve it, 3M has a better adhesive remover. You can not destroy anything.
