Propane tank off an 83 Westy

I'm curious about taking the propane tank OFF my 83 Westy, it's not doing anything under there but rusting, and looking bad. I have never had it filled, because it is badly rusted, and I haven't had the fridge out to check the lines, plus I have a little rust starting on the floor I;d like to get at, and the tank is in the way. I was thinking of simply crimping, or capping the lines when I;m done, has anyone tried this, does anyone have any strong opinions?

its a lot easier to remove a cap than a crimp, and a stove sure is nice when you use it. just hooked mine up after owningg it 2 years without even testing it. kickingmyslef still.

If that's what you want, you can always get flex lines & quick-release fittings to fit up to portable tanks (choice of several sizes). Have to agree with a cap vs. crimp statement!

Some states/provinces have differing laws re. what's legal to use on the road. Where are you located?

I'm in Ontario Canada, I've been told that due to the horizontal mounting of the tank there is very few laws regarding it. The guy at the RV store told me I could "get away with murder" because of it. I'm not really worried with re attaching it, I've owned the bus for 4 years and never once used the stove, or fridge on propane. It's usually so packed with the wifes stuff, I would hate to light a match in there, let alone the stove.

maybe I want to buy your propane fridge unit one day? always wanted one in my 77, but I have no idea what they look like or how they fit. 4 hours battery life is not enough to run a fridge.
