1600 engine cutting out

I'm having problems with the 1600 in my VW thing.

my car had been running great, till last week. I was driving and it started misfiring, it was cutting out really bad till it died. I looked at the engine, my fuel filter ( i have a clear one) was 1/2 full and had a stream of bubbles coming from the in hose. Let the car sit overnight, started right up, drove fine till about 10 miles, started cutting out again. A friend said it might be a cracked rubber fuel line. I replaced all the rubber lines, still cutting out, still stream of bubbles into the 1/2 full filter.


Any ideas?

Try swapping in a good coil, sometimes they build up too much resistance when hot and won't spark. And if you have points, i'd check them too.
