It runs well needs some work, body is in ok condition.... I am willing to except a trade for a mid 80's or older Ford Pickup.
I have pictures if you are intrested.

Run, do not walk away from this heap. Obviously the current owner either doesn't have a clue, or is a liar - I'm going with liar. Things aren't that rare. There were well over 25,000 Things imported into the US, not 2,500. "It runs well" - yeah, right. It's been parked for so long it sank into the mud! And describing the body as being in "ok condition"?! WTF? The rockers, doors, wheels and front clip appear to be beyond help, and it also looks like it took a pretty big hit in the rear end. Gotta figure with all the visible rust that the pans are gone too. From the pics it doesn't look like you could get $200 in usable parts off of it. Sad to see a Thing go out like that.

You obviously haven't parted out a thing recently. I just sold 2 hard tops for $1100, a complete front beam for $450.00, drive flanges for $60, stub axles for $100, drums, seats wiper motors, the list of parts goes on and on. If it was local it would already be in the yard getting torn down.

Northeast and upper mid-West standards are certainly different from those of the west and south. I certainly wouldn't want to tackle it, but someone from that part of the world might. There are cars that were in way worse shape than this thing now winning shows throughout the east.
If the power plant and tranny both seem to be good, it is probably worth your $500, if not either don't buy or try to get it for next to nothing.

There are a couple different ones, the factory and the Thing shop. The factory ones with the center riser bars gan bring $500 if in real nice shape. the aftermarket ones abit less. There's a couple for sale down here in the $400 range.
